This 3rd gear goes in TR6060 and TR6070 units with a 2.66 / 1.78 / 1.30 gear set (1st through 3rd). Verify your transmission’s gear ratios before ordering.

Why we prefer the non-advanced design

Tremec built the TR6060 with two engagement tooth designs: advanced (slanted) and non-advanced (symmetrical). This gear has the symmetrical non-advanced teeth, which is the style we prefer. In our experience, non-advanced gears tend to last considerably longer and are less prone to damage than their advanced counterparts.

Which 3-4 synchro sleeve do you need?

This 3rd gear has non-advanced (symmetrical) engagement teeth, and the matching 4th gear (input shaft) is always non-advanced. That makes the sleeve choice simple: you always use the non-advanced 3-4 synchro sleeve, the one with teeth that protrude on both sides. Both sides are the same, so it can be installed in either direction.

Did your transmission come with an advanced 3rd gear? Some do, including the C7 Corvette (TR6070) and some later-model TR6060 units. You don’t have to install the same style that came out. This gear works in those transmissions. Just swap the factory hybrid sleeve for the non-advanced 3-4 synchro sleeve
