Which transmissions does it fit?

This 2nd gear goes in TR6060 and TR6070 units with a 2.66 / 1.78 / 1.30 gear set (1st through 3rd). Verify your transmission’s gear ratios before ordering.

Why we prefer the non-advanced design

Tremec built the TR6060 with two engagement tooth designs: advanced (slanted) and non-advanced (symmetrical). This gear has the symmetrical non-advanced teeth, which is the style we prefer. In our experience, non-advanced gears tend to last considerably longer and are less prone to damage than their advanced counterparts.

Which 1-2 synchro sleeve do you need?

Check the engagement teeth on your 1st gear:

• Stepped teeth: use the non-advanced synchro sleeve. Its teeth stick out on both sides, so it installs in either direction.
• Smooth teeth all the way down: use the hybrid synchro sleeve. Its teeth stick out on one side and are flush on the other. Install it with the protruding teeth facing 2nd gear and the flush teeth facing 1st gear.

Did your transmission come with an advanced 2nd gear? Some do, including the C7 Corvette (TR6070) and some later-model TR6060 units. You don’t have to install the same style that came out. The non-advanced gear works in those transmissions. Swap the factory advanced 1-2 sleeve with whichever sleeve above matches your 1st gear.
