What does the TR6060 oil pickup filter tube do?
The TR6060 uses a mechanical countershaft-driven internal oil pump to actively circulate fluid throughout the transmission. The oil pickup filter tube sits at the bottom of the transmission case, drawing fluid in and feeding it into the pump. From there, pressurized oil travels through external lines and is injected back into the transmission near the input gear — ensuring critical components receive consistent lubrication during operation.
When would you need to replace it?
This is not a routine replacement item. There are two common scenarios where replacement becomes necessary. The first is heat damage — if the transmission has been overheated, the plastic tube can become brittle and crack during disassembly. The second is accidental breakage — the tube can be easily damaged during disassembly if the builder isn’t aware of its location and fragility. If rebuilding a transmission with a history of overheating, inspect this tube carefully and replace it if there is any sign of brittleness or cracking.
