What does this spacer do?

This spacer sits on top of the 3rd gear caged needle bearing, keeping it correctly positioned inside the transmission by filling the gap above the bearing. This spacer is specific to TR6060 applications and is not used on T56 transmissions.

When would you need this spacer?

This is not a routine wear item — it typically needs replacement when surrounding components have been damaged and the spacer was lost or compromised in the process. A common example is heat damage — if a nearby component burns up due to a lubrication failure or overheating event, the extreme heat can destroy this spacer along with it.

If this spacer is missing, the 3rd gear caged needle bearing loses its positional support and will move around inside the transmission — leading to bearing noise, accelerated wear, and potential damage to surrounding components. It’s a small part with a consequential job. If you know it’s missing or damaged, replace it before reassembly.
