If you’re performing a ring and pinion gear swap on your 1997–2013 C5 or C6 Corvette, the carrier shims are one of the most critical components in the entire setup process. Without the correct shim thickness, achieving the proper backlash, bearing preload and gear contact pattern is not possible — and getting it wrong leads directly to premature gear failure.

What’s included

This Corvette carrier shim kit includes shims in various thicknesses. Multiple shims can be stacked together to achieve the precise total thickness needed for the correct backlash and bearing preload leading to the correct gear setup — giving the installer the flexibility to dial in the exact specification required for their specific ring and pinion combination.

Professional installation required

Setting pinion depth, backlash, and bearing preload correctly requires significant experience and precision measuring equipment. This kit is intended for experienced differential builders who already have the necessary tools and supporting components on hand.
