C5 C6 Corvette Differential Inner Snap Ring 10-Pack — Made in the USA by TDP
If you’re rebuilding the rear differential on your C5 or C6 Corvette, replacing the differential inner snap ring is not a step you want to skip. This small but critical component retains the stub shaft onto the differential side gear — and should it fail, the consequences are serious.
What happens when the C5 C6 Corvette differential snap ring fails?
The factory GM snap ring is too thin to reliably hold the stub axle in place under the stresses of performance driving. It can slip out of its groove, allowing the stub shaft to walk out of position — causing you to lose drive to that wheel and risking significant differential damage. It can also crack or wear without warning.
This is why experienced Corvette drivetrain builders replace the differential inner snap ring every time the rear differential is opened, regardless of how the old one looks. At the cost of a snap ring versus a full differential rebuild, it’s an easy decision.
