If you’re servicing the rear differential on your 1997–2004 C5 or 2005 C6 Corvette, replacing the pinion O-ring is not a step to skip. This O-ring seals the pinion cover to the axle housing at the rear of the differential — and when it degrades, differential fluid will seep from that area, leading to fluid loss, accelerated wear, and costly differential damage if left unaddressed.

Why this kit includes two O-rings

GM changed the pinion O-ring design somewhere during the C5 production run, resulting in two different styles — one noticeably thicker than the other. Rather than making you guess which version your differential uses, we include both sizes in every kit. Simply match the new O-ring to your old one, install the correct size, and discard the other.

Best practice: Always replace all O-rings and seals any time the differential is opened for service — regardless of how the old ones look.
