What does the T56 oil funnel do?
Located in the tailhousing behind the countershaft extension bearing race, the oil funnel captures oil from the rear of the transmission and directs it through the countershaft extension and into the countershaft — channeling lubricant from the rear of the unit all the way to the front.
When would you need to replace it?
This is not a routine replacement item. Two common scenarios require replacement. The first is installation damage — the funnel’s tab must be carefully aligned into its groove during assembly. If forced in without proper alignment, the tab gets smashed and the funnel can no longer seat correctly. The second is debris damage from broken gears inside the transmission.
