What is the T56 Viper tailhousing?
The tailhousing is the rear housing of the T56 transmission through which the output shaft exits, and serves as the mounting point for the crossmember. This is the original Viper-spec die-cast aluminum unit manufactured by Tremec — the same company that built the T56 itself.
Why would you need this tailhousing?
There are two primary reasons. The first is damage — if your original tailhousing is cracked or broken, this is the direct replacement you need. The second is a transmission swap — this tailhousing is adaptable to other T56 versions and is a sought-after piece for builders who need the shifter in the specific position that the Viper tailhousing provides.
