If you’ve been searching for a T56 Viper tailhousing, you already know how difficult this part is to find. This is a genuine new original Tremec part — not an aftermarket reproduction — and we were extremely fortunate to source a limited supply of new old stock. Once our stock is gone, finding another source will be next to impossible.

Fitment and compatibility — important notes

This tailhousing was originally designed for the 1992–2002 Dodge Viper T56, making it a direct bolt-in replacement for those years. However with the right supporting components and in some cases minor machining, it can be adapted to fit several other applications:

• 1992–2002 Viper — direct fit, no modifications required. This is the application this tailhousing was originally designed for.
• 2003–2006 Viper — the 03–06 Viper used a different version of this tailhousing that has been discontinued for years and is virtually impossible to find. The 92–02 style tailhousing can be adapted to fit the 03–06 with our countershaft extension support bearing kit — click here. The difference between the two versions is minor, involving only the countershaft extension support bearing.
• 2008–2017 Viper — compatible with in-house milling performed by TDP plus our countershaft extension support bearing kit. The 08–17 version differs in two ways from the 92–02 housing: the countershaft extension support bearing, and a larger bushing and seal bore that requires machining to accommodate.
• 2004–2006 Dodge RAM SRT10 Truck — same adaptation as the 08–17 Viper. Requires in-house milling by TDP plus our countershaft extension support bearing kit.

In-house machining available at TDP

For applications requiring the bushing and seal bore to be milled out, TDP performs this machining work in-house at our facility. Contact us before ordering if you need machining performed so we can discuss the details and get your tailhousing ready for installation.
